LIBRARY

The library is the school's information center with an expanded collection of current materials that supports the curriculum. It is fully automated and has an online public access catalog, a networked computer lab with Internet access, and an electronic periodical database. Wireless technology allows laptop owners easy access to the Internet. The library provides the LTS community with a diverse range of resources: books, magazines, DVDs, and online databases. Additionally, there are 4 video editing stations in the Library. Video cameras and digital cameras may be borrowed.

The library program promotes literacy and the enjoyment of reading, viewing, and listening; provides learning experiences that encourage users to become discriminating and critical users of information; and provides access and instruction in the use of information technology. Students and staff have access to and borrowing privileges at all of our local libraries and through the Vermont Automated Library System. The LTS library affords quiet space for individual and group learning and is open to the community.

Access to Online Databases
The LTS library subscribes to a series of online databases that are accessible from home. The Gale databases are excellent electronic resources to meet a variety of research needs.

You can search the Vermont Department of Libraries catalog from home at web2.libraries.vermont.gov.
Note: Please click on “other libraries” to add public libraries, colleges, and schools to your search; the default search is only for Vermont’s regional lending libraries

The online databases can be accessed 24/7 at this address: infotrac.galegroup.com/itweb/vol_d73s. For the password, please email the LTS Librarian at vmorgan@longtrailschool.org.
