UPPER SCHOOL TECHNOLOGY
Two computer labs at LTS house 25 networked Dell PC computers and there is wireless access throughout the school. The Library Lab is available for teachers and students on a flexible schedule. The A1 Lab is a teaching lab. The Kiva is equipped with a large screen and LCD projector with an Internet computer and DVD/VCR capabilities. Available for classroom use is a mobile cart with a laptop computer, LCD projector, and DVD/VCR. The art room is equipped with a networked Dell system with a scanner and color printer. The music room has a computer for composition programs and also a separate mobile recording studio. The library circulates digital video and still cameras, and has 3 computers for digital video editing. The network administrator maintains the system.

1 st Semester 1/2 credit, recommended for 11th-12th grade and serious art students
ADOBE PHOTOSHOP Learn to use Adobe PhotoShop, and graphics tablet, to edit images for Web and print applications. Adobe Photoshop 7.0 provides integrated tools for creating and outputting crisp, editable vector shapes and text.

COMPUTER COMPONENTS & REPAIR teaches real-life troubleshooting and develops an independent, technologically literate student. Students study the different components and architectures of computers, different processors, memory, video cards, CPU's, and zip drives. Hands-on work includes reformatting hard drives, installing and updating drivers, assessing and installing virus protection measures, and installing and debugging applications.

COMPUTER & MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATIONS covers advanced computer operations, including Microsoftú PowerPoint, Excel, and Publisher to aid in presentations and course work.

INTRODUCTION TO JAVA programming involves understanding the fundamentals of Java and object-oriented programming. Java has a built-in application programming interface that can handle graphics and user interfaces. Learn how to build effective programs in Java by completing real-world examples.
Prerequisite: Introduction to Java, offered in 2007-08 and alternate years based on demand
AP JAVA PROGRAMMING prepares for computer science AP exam.

WEB PAGE DESIGN involves using an HTML editor to create a Web Site utilizing text, pictures, and tables. Become acquainted with Dreamweaver and Homesite. Learn how to establish links between pages and how to optimize photos. Requires teacher approval.

COMPUTER GRAPHICS introduces students to the development of artwork on the computer through the use of various animation programs and techniques. Students learn the same progression that professionals use to illustrate animated stories. They create stories, break them down into small scenes, learn art techniques that enable them to convey the spatial and emotional qualities of each scene, and hand draw visual storyboards. Finally, they create the animation on the computer producing an animated story that viewers understand.
