TRANSPORTATION

Long Trail's professional and friendly bus drivers know everyone by name on their three routes - south to Bennington on Route 7A, north through Pawlet to Middletown Springs/Poultney/Wells, and to East Dorset for students from Rutland and Manchester for students coming from the mountain towns. Based on numbers of riders, routes are determined each year to best serve LTS families.  A late bus is provided, arriving at Manchester Elementary and Middle School each afternoon at 5:15 pm. 

Almost every teacher is licensed to drive students in the minibuses. They and the regular drivers are experienced in safely transporting students near and far on academic, athletic, and student life trips throughout the year.

East Dorset/MEMS, Dorset Route stops at Benedict Lane, East Dorset General Store, Manchester Elementary and Middle School (at which students from the mountain towns gather using The Flood Brook and Winhall Public School busses), Route 30/Owl's Head Lane, and Route 30/Pinnacle Lane.

The Manchester & South Route stops at Route 7A/Aldi's Market in Bennington and proceeds north on Route 7A stopping at Paulin's Market, The Chocolate Barn, Arlington Post Office, East Arlington Road, East Arlington/Buck Hill Road. Sunderland Hill Road/Bacon Hollow Road, Sunderland Hill Road/Maggies Run Road, then heading to Manchester where stops include River Road/Muddy Lane, River Road, Manchester West Road/Ways Lane, Manchester West Road/Powderhorn Lane, Dorset West Road/Cross Road, 811 Dorset West Road, and Dorset West Road/Nichols Hill Road.

The Pawlet & North route stops at Tadmer Hill Road, Ambleside Farm, Middletown Springs Common, East Poultney Church, Wells General Store, Route 30/Route 153, Pawlet Post Office, Route 30/Sykes Hollow Road, and Route 30/Red Garage.
