Chromebook Use Agreement
Students may borrow a Chromebook for the year, or just for a day. The form below must be signed and submitted prior to a student borrowing a Chromebook.
Yearly Chromebook reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis. While in possession of the Chromebook set, only the authorized LTS student may use any portion of the set. When your term of use completes, the borrower shall turn in the Chromebook set to the professional at the front desk. If the Chromebook set is not returned on-time, a $1.00 fee will be charged per business day (max. 5 days) until the Chromebook set is returned. If any portion of the Chromebook set is not returned after 5 business days, the student’s account will be charged for the missing Chromebook and/or components ($250 for Chromebook, $50 for charger, $30 for case). If and when the Chromebook set is complete and returned, a parent/guardian may request any late fee be waived for any school days that the student has an excused absence or excused tardiness. If the fees are not paid within a business week, the student’s access to the take-home computers will be revoked. This policy may be revised at any time. Any updated versions will be emailed to the parent/guardians and posted on the LTS website.
Proper use:
This Chromebook is only authorized for use by students at Long Trail School and exclusively for school related work. Regardless of location, you agree to only use this Chromebook in accordance with the Acceptable-Use-Policy found in the Student Handbook, and that you agree that the school has permission to monitor this school device and its location at all times. Users are expected to follow all laws, including copyright laws. The sharing or transferring of copyrighted materials with this Chromebook is prohibited. While the school maintains the right to monitor use of this Chromebook, parents/guardians of the student that checks out the Chromebook are responsible for monitoring the use of this device when it is not on the school network. All Internet filtering and antivirus software on the computer may not be disabled for any reason. If the student does not follow these guidelines, their access to the take-home computers will be revoked.
Care of the device:
From the moment you check the device out, until it is returned to LTS, you agree to properly care for and handle entire kit. Students shall not attempt to open, repair, or in any way alter any portion of the kit. Personalization of the laptop and tampering with existing identification labels/stickers is considered vandalism and is strictly prohibited. The device shall remain in the case during all transportation activities. The device includes a computer, charger, and case. Each of these must be returned in the same condition you received it. If it is broken when you receive the Chromebook set, you will notify the professional at the front desk as soon as possible; the latest you can report it without being charged is when you check it in. If any or all of the components are lost, stolen, or broken while they are in your possession, you and your parent/guardian agree to reimburse LTS for the cost of the repair or replacement. If you do not report the missing/broken equipment and the school determines that any portion of the set is broken or missing, you will be charged for the cost of the repair or replacement plus a $5.00 service fee.
