NHS CANCER PREVENTION FUNDRAISER

Applications are now open for the 2021 Governor’s Institute of Vermont. An excellent opportunity for students to meet peers from across the state, GIV “empower(s) young people with intensive, hands-on learning experiences that inspire their academic and creative passions, build confidence and leadership, and expand their sense of possibility.” Interested students in grades 9-12 may apply.
Summer immersions include arts, engineering, entrepreneurship, environmental science, global issues and youth action, health and medicine, mathematical sciences, technology and design.

MODEL HOUSE BUILDING CONTEST
Bennington County Habitat for Humanity is excited to announce its MODEL HOME BUILDING CONTEST for all Bennington County students in grades K-12. Video submission deadline is March 1. Judging will take place on March 9 for grades 5-8 and March 10 for grades 9-12. Winners will be announced on Fri., March 12 at a 5:30 pm Zoom gathering.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH ESSAY COMPETITION
Students who attend high school in Addison, Rutland, or Bennington counties are invited to write a 150-500 word speech to other young people expressing your commitment to anti-racism and encouraging peers to be anti-racist.

CANCER UNWRAPPED TEEN WRITING CONTEST
The CANCER UNWRAPPED TEEN WRITING CONTEST opens a dialogue with teens about their emotions and realities when dealing with cancer, whether their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a loved one.
This national program encourages teens to write about their experiences and compete for one of several $1,000 cash prizes.
Open to students in the United States in grades 9-12. The contest deadline is March 14, 2021, midnight PST. CLICK HERE for more information.
