LONG TRAIL HOSTS IB SCHOOLS OF THE NORTHEAST ROUNDTABLE

In early September, Long Trail School hosted a College Counseling Roundtable for regional IB schools. Seven schools attended, including New York State’s Ballston Spa High School and Abby Kelley Foster Charter School, Josiah Quincy Upper School and Quabbin Regional High School from Massachusetts. The group focused on the challenges of educating northeastern colleges and universities on the merits of the IB program. The participants universally agreed that IB graduates are incredibly prepared for college and far ahead of their peers academically. They are stronger writers, have excellent time management skills and overall are prepared for the rigors of college work. Long Trail Director of College Counseling Scott Magrath enthused that “It was rewarding to be with other educators who were so professionally invested in IB and had full faith in an IB education.”
Representatives from 7 IB schools gathered recently at LTS to discuss college counseling concerns.
