New Athletics Leadership Team at LTS

LTS is pleased to announce that Luke Krueger will be serving as our Interim Athletics Director. Luke is also the newest member of our English faculty.  A veteran college instructor, Luke was most recently the Director of Residence Life and Housing at Green Mountain College; he has also worked as a camp director for ten years, overseeing sleep-away academic camps in Vermont, Virginia, New Jersey, Florida, and New York City. He is a published playwright with a BA from Miami University – Ohio and an MFA from Arizona State University. Athletics have always been a fundamental part of Luke’s life. He was a catcher and goalkeeper in baseball and soccer throughout high school, and he lettered in soccer at Wabash College.

Luke views athletics as an integral part of the educational experience. He brings with him a holistic approach that looks to help students grow through their experience of being a part of a team, committing to practices and games, showing respect to coaches and teammates, working hard in the off-season, supporting their teammates on and off the field, exhibiting good sportsmanship at all times, and ensuring that student-athletes embody the essence of that term. Ultimately, a Long Trail School student-athlete should graduate with a strong sense of esprit de corps that all teams embrace, selflessness, a balance between studies and sports, and a life that has physical fitness as a central part of daily practice. The most important lesson for a student-athlete: the greatest victory lies beyond the scoreboard; it is found within.

We are likewise delighted that Tim Smith, who has taken on more classroom teaching responsibilities, will continue to serve our student-athletes as Associate Athletics Director and Head Varsity Boys Soccer Coach.

With Luke and Tim, along with our coaches and our athletes (and an awesome Fieldhouse on the way), we are so excited about our programs – come join in!
