Rock Climbing

Rock Climbing

Climbing at Long Trail is an excellent opportunity for your student to push themselves to reach new heights. Due to increased interest in climbing over the last few years, we have are now offering two options for our climbers: Competitive and Club. For those who like to compete, the Competitive Team may be for you.  If you just want to climb for fun, or on occasion, the Club may be a better choice.

PLEASE NOTE: All participants (competitive and club) must be LTS belay certified. Belay certification will take place on Oct. 28 and 31 from 3:15-4:15 pm on the LTS Rock Wall.

COMPETITIVE

COACH: Josh Vann

Cost:

Time Commitment:

  • Students are expected to be at ALL practices in order to participate in competitions.
  • Practices are Monday & Thursday from 3:45-5:30 pm.
  • Competitions are once a month on Wednesdays. On competition weeks, there will NOT be a Thursday practice.
  • LTS will provide transportation to and from the GMRCC for practices and TO the GMRCC for competitions. Climbers must have a ride home after competitions from the GMRCC.

Behavioral Expectations:

Due to the high number of students and fact that we travel to Rutland for practice, behavioral expectations are high. Failure to follow the Long Trail Standards of Behavior and GMRCC guidelines will result in first a warning and then dismissal from the team if the behavior reoccurs.

Please Note:

  • A Green Mountain Rock Climbing Center Waiver must be completed before attending the first practice.
  • Due to limited space at the gym and safety concerns, team capacity may be limited for practices and competitions.
