The faculty and families of Long Trail School hope you are safe and well. Campus may be temporarily closed, but LTS teaching and learning are very much in session.
The Office of Admission is open and actively engaging with new families.
Covid-19 Visit Process Spring 2020
Contacting us to set up your virtual admissions meeting is the first step in your Long Trail journey. Director of Admission Katie Redding will help you explore our school with images and conversation and answer all of your questions about the school and the application process. Seth Linfield, our Head of School, and other school leaders in your area of interest are eager to join the call at your request. Our wonderful team of professionals are eager to hear about what you seek in a school, and how we can fulfill your child’s dreams.
Katie is also setting up meetings with prospective students, current LTS student teachers and student leaders. These meetings have been fun and a productive way for your child to explore our community through our people.
VISIT A CLASS!
Our engaging faculty warmly welcome you to visit their online classes! Witness dynamic teaching and collaborative learning first-hand.
Post-Covid Visit Process
A Student Visit is the first step in your Long Trail journey. The day of classes is your student’s chance to explore our campus, connect with students, get a feel for our academics, arts and athletic opportunities. On a regular LTS day, your child will soak in our distinct school culture.
Parents are encouraged to share in the visit day experience with their child. You can attend our all-school morning meeting, tour the campus with Director of Admission Katie Redding, and meet Seth Linfield, our Head of School, and other school leaders in your area of interest. Our wonderful team of professionals are eager to hear about what you seek in a school, and how we can fulfill your child’s dreams. We can’t wait to host your family on the day you explore Long Trail School.
The Long Trail Day
Your LTS visit begins by meeting your Student Host who will be your guide throughout the day. We make every effort to pair you with a host of similar age and interests. You will join them for advisory, the all school morning meeting, and then you will shadow your host through a full day of academic classes. This will give you a chance to meet teachers and students and get a sense of what it is like to be a Long Trail student. Lunch is provided for all visitors and hosts.
Student visits are usually held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning in October.
It is customary for parents to attend our all-school morning meeting and tour with the Director on the morning of the full-day student visit. Parents can of course have a tour ahead of the student visit if that is preferred.
Admissions Testing is required for all student visits. The Wide Range Achievement Test 4 (WRAT 4) is administered on the day of your visit during one class period. It measures the basic academic skills of reading, spelling, mathematical computation, and sentence comprehension. Your Student Host will bring you to the testing center and pick you up when you are finished. DISMISSAL is at 3:00 pm. Your Student Host will bring you back to the Admissions Office to meet your parents.
During Your Visit
Long Trail provides an atmosphere of courteous behavior. Faculty request that you, as our guest, conduct yourself in a respectful manner to both faculty and classmates. All visitors are encouraged to participate in class, however, if you wish just to observe, please be quiet so that the goals for class instruction can be met. We request that you remain with your host. If you know another student you would like to visit with during breaks or lunch, please invite him or her to join you and your host. Please let us know if you have any questions, comments or concerns prior to your visit. We will try our best to accommodate your interests and needs.
